Snow Pattern - ?ingvellir, Iceland

This one is from a good session on new year day 2010. Instead of stay up all night I decided to go home a little early to wake up the next morning to get the sunrise (well, not that early, sunrise is between 10-11am this time of year).

This is frozen lake? ingvellir. Only parts of its interesting north shore freezes during cold spells because in other parts underground water surfaces in underwater cracks keeping the surface water unfrozen. These cracks are formed were the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates drift apart and they are popular amongst divers as the water is extremely clear with visibility well over 100m. These cracks can also be seen on land in nearby? ingvellir national park.
